My Experience on Second Life: I was Banned from a House

Well, it did not take me long to have a Second Life experience that made me LOL, so I thought I would share it with you. After once again visiting the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri, I thought I would enjoy checking out my hometown. I was unsuccessful in trying to find it in Massachusetts. I also could not find anything remotely close to a modern-day setting of a Massachusetts town or city. I teleported to “Boston Harbour,” but that was an eighteenth century location.
Then, I found “Boston Nightlife.” I teleported there and explored a random house that was nearby. As I walked around the first floor, it seemed like a typical wooden seaside house out in Cape Cod or Martha’s Vineyard. Then, I walked upstairs and caught sight of two forms (which had not loaded yet) that were sitting on a chair. By accident, I walked on top of the two of them and continued walking into the other room. After turning around and seeing two (now loaded) avatars, I had trouble deciphering the foreign names above their bodies. Next thing I knew, I was outside of the house and a message popped up in the top right corner of my window stating that I was banned. From what I gathered, a man and woman created this home to have a private life in a place they call “Boston Nightlife.” Now, when I attempt to enter their “property” on Boston Nightlife, yellow lines appear and a message pops up, saying the following: “Cannot enter parcel, you have been banned.” I guess I entered on an intimate moment between two avatars.
From my random encounters thus far on Second Life, it seems that I will be no longer be using it in my free time. This is because I would need to use it for tens of hours in order to remove the unwritten “noob” status from my profile.

  1. Look what you did, Adam. I read your post and I was curious to see what you missed out on, so I looked up Boston Nightlife and teleported to that location. I had dreams of walking into the house, well-mannered and well-attired, and striking up a conversation with the residents about that madman who had broken into their house yesterday and stepped all over their furniture. Instead, I got this:

    Consequences

Look at this, Adam. They were so shocked by your sudden intrusion that they've essentially set up a security system around their house. They've shut their doors to even well-meaning people like myself, just because of the trauma they experienced at your hands.

I hope you've learned your lesson. Actions in the virtual world have real (virtual) consequences.
