Today I was a snapchat celebrity!
I thought this experiment was pretty funny because a couple of my friends actually do this non-experimentally every day. I made sure to include them in the cohort that I sent my snaps to-- taste of their own medicine ha! I started out by just sending a ton of pointless snaps to 6 or 7 of friends that I knew pretty well. Since Snapchat is always about pointless snaps, it didn't elicit a lot of reactions. Most of them just sent back snaps that were a pic of nothing with the caption "loool", and stopped responding after the first snap. One friend I had shown the social experiment print out messaged me, "are you experimenting on me".
Most notably, my friends who are daily "snapchat celebrities" didn't ever reply to me except for their usual updates of their own documentations of their days, which kind of annoyed me. Overall, because Snapchat is such a casual medium and over-documentation is not a super novel thing, this social experiment didn't break norms too much.
