Lab Talks

I have my interview with a scientist scheduled for tomorrow and I was just thinking about the kinds of questions I wanted to ask her. I'm personally interested in why she got into science and why she stayed. I have a feeling that there cannot be the same reason for starting as there is for staying. Does she feel the gendered pressures of lab life, the sort that we have talked about in class? What would she say if she were to read or hear about the hyper-masculine narrative of high-energy physics labs? I wonder if she would be able to relate or think that it's all blown out of proportion. On the same note, I want to know what her life outside of science is like - does the lab follow her around in her everyday life? I've never really thought this much about what life is like for a scientist and I'm really excited to pick her brain a bit and try to understand why she does the work she is doing - also if her work influences the way she lives everyday life.
