Thoughts on Anthropology of Microbes

I thought this was an extremely interesting call to action and highlights what I believe to be an increasing trend in the sciences and engineering to become more interdisciplinary and interconnedted, particularly in the biological sciences. Biology seems well situated at the intersection between many fields, from physics, to chemistry, to engineering (biomimetics!), to mathematics, to architecture, to anthropology and public health and etc.

It is exciting to think about the notion that today there exist fields of science that did not exist 10 years ago, and that the same will be true 10 years from now. The idea of an anthropology of microbes seems simultaneously both revolutionary yet obvious once stated, and it will be interesting to see what kind of research this article which is only 6 months old will inspire in the near future.
