Snapchat Billboards

I'm really excited to begin our new section of Virtual Worlds. I've been waiting to post about this particular subject for a while, as to not be too hasty to like my PatientsLikeMe post in September :).  I was driving down 170 the other day (aka three weeks ago) and saw a picture of the Snapchat logo on a giant billboard.  (No, I didn't take a picture of it)  I was shocked for two reasons: 1. It had absolutely no words, it was literally just the Snapchat logo. 2. I had never seen an advertisement for social media, let alone one on the interstate! Does Snapchat think this is a good marketing tool? If you weren't aware that the logo was for Snapchat like I did, how would you know what the logo was for? How would you figure it out? The billboard had ZERO words.  I've never seen a commercial or billboard for Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to become an active user, so why billboards colleagues (and Snappers, and Snapchat)? It seemed really out of place to me. Has anyone else seen these? Here's an article about the billboards, apparently other people realized the abnormality of these ads too!
