Hi all,
So, I downloaded the SL viewer and decided to change my appearance before picking a site to do my ethnographic observations - but then I met someone who works with Tom Boellstoff (O_O). She was checking up on Ethnographia for a current project that they are working on; I can share more in class with everyone on Thursday. She was very nice and gave me some tips for dressing my sim and now we are friends. It was very serendipitous and conversation was very easy to start and continue through this platform.
After we finished talking, I teleported to Nonprofit Commons because it seemed interesting to me that nonprofits operated in SL. It was completely deserted, but was also a bit of a sensory over load. There was music, little descriptions of objects popping up everywhere and telling offering you free stuff. It was just a world of advertisements and external links. Again, there were no people. It seemed like a resource hub, for things located out of SL. Also, there was a challenge feature that I couldn't figure out... It was a weird place in my opinion...but then again, I don't think I know how its supposed to be used.
It was more comfortable in general being on SL, but my poor laptop can't handle the program for very long periods of time :(.
