Sooo I recently came across an article which noted that an individual paid ~$20,000 US for a virtual item in Diablo 3. http://bit.ly/Uxmeas
I was extremely surprised and stumbled upon an article about "botting" in the same game. Apparently this individual, presumably American/British, is a student trying to pay tuition and makes ~$90-100 a day by running a computer 24/7 with four games running simultaneously. Each bot automatically loads, logs in, kills monsters, collects gold, and resets.

Seems quite profitable compared to gold farming rates in China....
